Terms of Use
The short version
- Trailmark is not an emergency service. In an emergency, call 911 or race medical.
- Positions, times, estimates and alerts can be wrong, late or missing.
- Trailmark is not affiliated with the Javelina Jundred, Aravaipa Running or any race.
- You use Trailmark at your own risk.
- You're responsible for what you post.
Who we are
Trailmark (trailmark.run) is made by Switchback Labs ("we" and "us"). These terms are an agreement between you and Switchback Labs.
By making an account or using Trailmark, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use Trailmark. Our Privacy Policy says what we collect and who can see it.
What Trailmark is
Trailmark gives a runner a race-day page, called a camp, on its own address. Their crew post updates and splits. Friends and family follow along, cheer and check in. The race page shows listed camps together.
Trailmark shows estimates of where a runner is and when they'll get somewhere. It can also show official timing pulled from the race's public live results.
Trailmark is a way for fans to follow a race. It isn't official timing, a safety tool or a way to reach anyone in a hurry.
Not an emergency service
Trailmark is not an emergency service of any kind. Don't use it to report an emergency, ask for help, or find or check on someone who may be hurt or lost.
In an emergency, call 911 or race medical. Never wait on a post, a position or a notification from Trailmark.
Information can be wrong, late or missing
Anything on Trailmark can be wrong, late or missing, including:
- positions, splits and finish times;
- estimates of where a runner is or when they'll arrive;
- official timing pulled from public trackers, which can be late, wrong or stop;
- what crew and others post;
- notifications, which can arrive late, twice or not at all.
Phones lose signal on the course, and servers and networks fail. For official results, go to the race.
Not affiliated with any race
Trailmark is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the Javelina Jundred, Aravaipa Running, or any race or race organizer. We use a race's name only to say which race a page is about.
Your account
You sign in with a code we email you. There's no password. Anyone who can read your email can sign in as you, so keep your email secure.
You must be 13 or older to make an account.
What you post
You're responsible for what you post or enter: updates, splits, cheers, check-ins, names, notes and phone numbers.
- Only post someone else's phone number or other contact details with their permission. A camp's race-day contact shows to anyone with the link.
- Don't post anything unlawful, hateful, harassing or threatening, or pretend to be someone else.
- Don't try to break or overload Trailmark, get around its limits, or reach information that isn't yours.
What you post stays yours. You let us store it, show it on Trailmark (on the camp's page, the race page and in notifications) and copy it as needed to run Trailmark.
We can remove content or close camps
We can remove or hide any post, cheer, check-in or other content, and close any camp or account, at any time and for any reason. We can also change, pause or stop Trailmark, or any part of it, at any time.
Use at your own risk
You use Trailmark at your own risk. Trailmark is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. That includes any warranty that it's accurate, on time, available, or fit for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
As far as the law allows, Switchback Labs and the people who make Trailmark are not responsible for any injury, loss or harm that comes from using or relying on Trailmark. That includes wrong, late or missing information and notifications that never arrive, and any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages.
As far as the law allows, our total liability for any claim about Trailmark is limited to US$50.
Some places don't allow some of these limits. There, they apply as far as the law allows.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. When a change matters, the terms get a new version, and Trailmark asks you to agree again the next time you sign in or open a signed-in page. Small fixes, like typos, keep the same version.
